While he begins by talking about support that has been provided, he goes on to say:
" Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet." (link)What the left doesn't seem to understand is that this statement, along with hundreds of others, demonstrates Obama's belief that government involvement is an essential building block for business and success. This varies sharply with those of us that believe that the government's involvement should be minimal. To say the president is a socialist is evident in these statements...the government is essential and individuals and businesses would be unsuccessful without it.
While on the campaign trail, Rick Perry talked about the lack of taxation in Texas and how businesses come to Texas as the government is not as involved. Businesses thrive without government intervention. Despite what Obama would say, businesses existed prior to roads and bridges. Businesses are run by individuals and as business succeeds, the people succeed.
