Rick Santorum was a distant second, at 8% with slightly more than 2,500 votes.

Part of Romney's popularity probably has something to do with the controversy Santorum stirred up when he said that for Puerto Rico to become a state, they needed to accept English as the official language. Romney, instead, spoke of the rich history.
