Sarah Palin - Ready To Run

In case anyone was wondering, Palin is running.  And by the way, she's always been running.  Every move she's made since the last election has been to set her up for this run.  That's why I find this "will she or won't she run" debate hilarious.  Palin is a smarter woman than most give her credit for and I guarantee that she has a some tricks up her sleeve.

With Palin and Romney as the front runners, I think we are in for a fascinating primary season.  Romney has to convince all of the Tea Party members that he is one of them, that he is conservative enough for them and also face a media that will do all that it can to put a wedge between Romney and Palin. Every innuendo that Romney makes will be analyzed by the Left as a potential jab against Palin.  The Media love doing this anyway, but with both of them spending more time in public, I predict that the Left-Wing Media will do all it can to make up controversy.

Romney will have to walk a fine line, demonstrating that he is more capable than Palin but not in any way making light of her abilities.  He has to make his case without targeting her case. He has to win over her supporters (who are to the Right, generally, of his supporters) in a credible way without diminishing Palin at all.

As for Sarah Palin, she needs to figure out once and for all how to connect with the voters who are uncertain about her abilities and prove that she is competent enough for the job.  And, she has to do this while the media targets her at every turn.  She will be criticized much more than Romney will.  She will be the butt of every joke.  It isn't fair, but it will happen.  This is one reason Romney needs to remain respectful of her at all times, even as he attempts to win the nomination.

Palin needs to make her case that she has original ideas that will solve our problems.  She needs to produce proposals on Medicare, for instance, or write articles in the WSJ.  She needs to be a thought leader, not just an criticiser of Obama's policies.  Can she?  Well, I have always known she is more intelligent that most give her credit for.  But, it remains to be seen if she can pull this off.

So, as I said, this will be interesting.

Tornado Fatalities

Our hearts and prayers go out the people who have been impacted by the devastating tornadoes over the past week.

Trump Not Running

Well, hope everyone has a tissue, Trump decided that he is not running for President!

In all seriousness, this is a good decision for him and for the Republican Party.  He was turning this race into a circus.  Also, I'm not sure he's really a Republican.  A RINO for sure.

Having said that, it would have been fun.  He is gutsy and I appreciate how willing he was to call out President Obama.  He's proven that he can make headlines and get the attention of the President.  I also think that he can sway votes to whomever ends up the nominee.  That's the good that I see about this.  He does have a popular vote from people that don't know anything about politics but like him for his celebrity.

Take That TSA: Don't Mess With Texas!!

Everything is better in Texas. In a move to put TSA in their place, the Texas House passes a bill prohibiting the inappropriate pat downs the TSA agents have been performing at airports.

"The Texas House passed a bill that would make it a criminal offense for public servants to inappropriately touch travelers during airport security pat-downs.

Approved late Thursday night, the measure makes it illegal for anyone conducting searches to touch “the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person” including through clothing.

It also prohibits searches “that would be offensive to a reasonable person.”
The bill’s chief sponsor is Republican Rep. David Simpson, who said, “this has to do with dignity and travel, and prohibiting indecent, groping searches.”

He believes it will keep Transportation Security Administration officials from treating travelers like criminals, though the measure may be superseded by federal law.
After a brief but raucous debate, lawmakers approved the measure with little opposition — drawing applause from supporters.

Texas Takes Great Step To Protect Life

This is good to see.  Texas passes a law requiring sonograms prior to an abortion.  This, hopefully, reminds these mothers that they in fact have a real child inside of them whose life needs to be protected.

I think Mother's Day is a great day to remind ourselves of the importance of the Pro-Life movement.  We should recommit ourselves to protecting unborn life and helping women understand the options available to them - such as adoption.

This has felt like an uphill battle since Roe v. Wade, but there are few issues out there that warrent our support more than this one.  Life is worth protecting.

The Left has gotten really good at framing their side - stating that this is about the mother's body and is more of a mother's health issue than anything else.  They point to the risk of back-alley abortions (as though mothers have no other options but commit abortion and will do whatever it takes).  Opponents of the TX bill state that the government should not interfere with the relationship between a woman and her doctor.

When you hear it framed this way, you almost forget that we are talking about an actual life.  So, making mothers first get a sonogram will hopefully remind women that once the child has been conceived, women are, in-fact, mothers.

Happy Mother's Day

To all Mothers out there - Happy Mother's Day!  The central unit of society is the family and the Mother is the heart of the family.  Most people inherit their primary value system of goodness and integrity from the day in and day out work of their mothers.  Mothers are unsung heros who have a profound effect on the next generation.  I am grateful for my mother for raising me with a strong sense of self and the resilience to stand up for I believe in.  Thanks, Mom!

Condoleezza Rice Schools MSNBC

Fantastic interview with Condoleezza Rice on MSNBC.  She is articulate, forceful, and professional.  She defends President Bush's actions in Iraq better than I have ever heard.  I wish she was in the news more often.  She is a force to be reckoned with.  You must see this:

Storms in the South

With all that has happened in the world lately, the spotlight has left the tragedy that has been endured in the south. Horrible storms, flooding, tornadoes, deaths. Now the Mississippi tributaries are flowing backwards??  The Red Cross has landed and is helping out where possible. The flooding is expecting to continue so we're not out of danger yet.

Questions Surrounding Osama's Death

The rumor mills are going crazy. Debating if Osama bin Laden was killed today or a week ago. Is it really him? How was Pakistan involved? Are we any safer as a country? With the lack of confirmed facts, all the news can do is speculate.

What do you think??

Osama Bin Laden is Dead.

Osama bin Laden is dead. The president delivered this in a speech late Sunday night. I am watching as people celebrate in New York and Washington D.C. It's on all the news channels: FoxNews, CNN, Drudgreport, BBC, MSNBC.

May God bless the military and their families and watch over those still in danger. May God be with this country as the dangers are still very real.
