Last night's Republican debate had it all - fireworks, fresh barbs, and the missing man. Fireworks erupted between Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty over voting records. Newt Gingrich gave the one-two punch and showed America the energy they've been waiting for. And Rick Santorum poked his head out and said "look at me!"
Mitt Romney and Herman Cain heralded their private-sector experience and Herman Cain told America to get a "sense of humor." Jon Hunstman appeared very out of place, even being told that some thought he was running on the wrong ticket. Ron Paul was proclaimed an expert in the Constitution by the commentator and rallied the crowd against war and foreign involvement. Even though Rick Perry has not announced he's running, he clearly had a presence in the debate. All in all, it was a good chance for candidates to show America that there are many choices better than Obama. (For more on the debate, click here.)
Whose image improved? Newt Gingrich probably made the largest gains while Tim Pawlenty took the biggest plunge. Mitt Romney maintained his image and the rest sort of blended in. I can't wait to see how Rick Perry mixes things up at the next event!
