"House Republicans will link passage of a balanced-budget amendment to Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) last-ditch debt-ceiling plan, which GOP lawmakers said would move the measure to passage in a high-stakes vote later on Friday.
Republican lawmakers seemed confident after a vital Friday morning conference meeting that the tweaked Boehner proposal would pass muster with a restive conference.
“I’m smiling,” Boehner said after perhaps the most crucial conference meeting of his speakership."
While Republicans are working hard to find the best solution for America, Democrats are taking to the media.
"When President Obama said to tweet your lawmakers and ask them to compromise on raising the debt ceiling earlier on Friday, he really meant it.
Obama's campaign Twitter account, @BarackObama, has set out to spread the word of congressional Republicans who are on Twitter. "You heard the President. So here's what we're doing: throughout the day we'll post the Twitter handles of GOP lawmakers in each state," the account tweeted."
McConnell criticizes Dems for their lack of involvement on working towards a solution:
"McConnell, however, chastised Senate Democrats for sitting on their hands while the House GOP did all the heavy lifting.
"The contrast couldn't be starker. Rather than working the last few days towards a solution to this crisis the way the Republican majority in the House has, the Democratic majority here in the Senate has been wasting precious time rounding up 'no' votes to keep this crisis alive," McConnell said on the Senate floor.
"Rather than being responsible and doing their duty and come up with a bill that can actually pass, they have been busy signing people up for the "Not Good Enough Caucus" and ginning up opposition to everything else," he added."
