This is a disappointing ad from MoveOn.Org. This is actress Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Cuddy from House) alleging that Republicans are encouraging back-alley abortions by cutting government funding for abortions calling it an "all out assault on women's health." "Why is the GOP trying to send women back to the back-alley?" she says.
This video is very sad on many levels. First, the GOP doesn't want to fund abortions because of a fundamental belief that it is morally wrong to pull a fetus out from a mother's womb therefore killing it. Liberals often say that the Pro-Life movement wants to compromise 'women's health' - but no one considers the health of the child that has just been denied life.
If a woman gets pregnant unexpectedly, ads like this are based on the premise that there is no other option for women but abortion. The woman must have an abortion and therefore the government must provide funding. What about adoption? Why is MoveOn.org not using its resources to bring in famous Hollywood actresses to support adoption as an alternative to abortion? (Dare I say, why is MoveOn.org not creating ads that support not getting pregnant in the first place?)
Also, this ad highlights how well-supported the pro-abortion movement is by Hollywood. Stories about abortion make their way into TV shows and movies and the premise is that abortions are okay and, in fact, a viable option for women with unwanted pregnancies.
I hardly know the words to express my sadness that there are so many in world today that do not respect the sanctity of life.
I have to disagree that this ad is disappointing from Move-on. It is entirely expected from Move-on.

Agreed, it is exactly what we should expect out of MoveOn.org.
